Looking Forward: 2013

Happy New Year everyone! It is always nice to reflect on the past year as you look towards the new year. I feel lucky to have had so many amazing things happen in 2012 both professionally and personally. First off, I can’t thank enough all the artists I have had and will continue to have the pleasure to work with. There would be no LPP without them and of course LPP couldn’t go on without all the support of the people who have collected the work from the site.

There are a lot of milestones that happened in 2012 with LPP, but two I am super proud of are:
The LPP Book published by Chronicle Books
The launch of the UNIFORMA Collection

The future:
In 2013, After 9 years of running the business all online, LPP is on the search for a store front for its first retail location here in Oakland. We are super excited about this new venture and can’t wait to have it up and running. Stay Tuned!

Also, in November I formed a new venture, Golden Guild Manufacturing.

Golden Guild is an apparel and accessory production house. We offer cutting, sewing, pattern making and can work in most materials including denim and leather.

We have no minimums, so its great for designers and artists who are just starting out or for small businesses in need of custom uniforms. We are open to all ideas! We also will work with both local and non local clients.

I am so thrilled to work with designers and artists to turn their ideas into tangible products as well as being part of the larger conversation within manufacturing in the US. Our production house will be part of the new space we open in 2013.

I will be going to NYIGF in NYC this month to debut the next collection of Uniforma!

Lastly, a video podcast I have been working on with KQED (NPR in the Bay Area) will launch sometime in January!

And on a personal note, I got engaged so I am so excited to marry an amazing person and artist!

Pictured above are the polaroids of SF based, Sean McFarland. I felt they seemed appropriate to feature for the first day of a new year to remind us that the world is vast, epic, fragile, temporary, unreal and beyond beautiful. Life is short, live today like its the last day of your life.

Love, Kelly
