Holopaw’s participatory project: The Retelling

Only Bleeding by Michael Velliquette

negative space of drawn icons + collage by John Orth

The fine Gainesville, FL band Holopaw, which already has lots to do with the visual art sphere through the makings of founding member John Orth, has a band-wide art project underway, entitled The Retelling. Holopaw invited 24 artists to respond to/ remix/ reimagine their new release Oh, Glory. Oh, Wilderness., and so far the results have taken the form of painting, drawing, collage, video, film, and performance. These works are in the process of gradually being released to your eyes here. Most ‘retellings’ are accompanied by a personal description of how the image reflects the music to the artist. As with Holopaw’s sounds, there’s a “sweetness and dense lyrical mystery” building in this project.

Holopaw welcomes your questions and your submissions to this ongoing project at [email protected] John has said he hopes it can grow and grow.
