No Wave was the short-lived but influential underground music, film, performance art, video, and contemporary art scene that began during the mid-1970s in New York City. The term “No Wave” is a satirical word rejecting the commercial elements of the then-popular New Wave genre.

*No Wave Cinema was the crew of rebellious filmmakers who emerged from the economically bankrupt and dangerous moment in New York history. From the late 1970′s through the mid 80′s, the city was still full of cheap rent and cheap drugs, these directors crafted works that would go on to influence independent film this day.
