John Buck's mastery of his material is inspirational. He's the King of Wood. Or The Wood Boss. In any case, he can carve anything, but as a 3d draftsmen giving volume to lines. He always makes certain these forms serve his concept, which is born from a wide range of historical inspiration, and social consciousness of contemporary issues such as dwindling natural resources. Apparently he also carves a huge array of realistic objects that for whatever reason don't end up in his work. Buck's skills extend to woodcuts on the scale of 8 by 4 feet, and, most recently, kinetic wooden sculptures.
You can view more of his works at Paule Anglim or his own site.
